Writer's Block: The Right to Privacy
I think the 'price for being famous' thing is a crock for a start. Just because someone has talent and is successful doesn't give others the right to attack this person with cameras to put pictures in these trashy magazines that are full of absolute bullshit. Though there are exceptions to this in the form of people who put their lives before the camera to BECOME famous, these are not the people I'm talking about. I'm talking about actors, musicians, people with talent. Now fans coming up and getting a picture and an autograph, yes. But when these people are on a day out with their kids and they're practically getting stalked by soulless monsters with cameras...why subject anyones kids to that? Where's there a rule written that states famous people don't deserve to do all the things we take for granted every day of our lives? Is it through jealousy that people say they deserve it? It really makes me wonder how childish our society is that we have to nit pick at these people to make ourselves feel better. Ultimately it's the media that conveys these people that depicts them as 'perfect' when this is far from true. They're still human after all. These people are entertainers, they do what they do more often than not because they have a love for it. So why should we pry into their private lives like this?
Whenever a question like this comes up, I always have to try and put myself in their shoes before I make judgement. The whole Christian Bale incident for example, where he flipped out on the lighting guy (if I remember rightly) during the filming of Terminator Salvation. Now everybody was quick to say "That guy's nuts, what the hell's his problem?" but you know, who are we to really say that about him? Do you know him personally? No. So how could you really make that judgement? Now there have been a few incidents with Christian Bale that I've narrowed down to the fact that he gets stressed out doing what he does. He's a method actor and completely absorbs himself into a role so you know, he puts EVERYTHING into his work. If you've ever seen him in 'The Machinist' you know what I mean. Now I'm not defending what he did in anyway as I'm sure it must have been hard on the guy it happened to but I'm merely saying that other things haven't been considered. That and surely it seriously affected the guy's life when some dick decided to record the audio and put it up on youtube? You know, that just made the situation worse. Though it was in a studio, it's still prying into lives and no good comes from it.
I won't ramble any further because I could seriously go on for days about this. However, all of this is just my opinion but I just wanted to get a little snippet of it across. Everyone deserves privacy. Everyone deserves to be able to have a peaceful day out with their family. That's all I'm saying.
